A city-wide call to volunteer: Serve-a-thon returns May 10th–24th 2026

As a passionate advocate for community spirit in our city, BritCham is proud to share a special milestone from our friends and partners at HandsOn Hong Kong. This May, their signature community service week, Serve-a-thon, celebrates its 10th anniversary—and they are inviting our entire network to be part of the celebration.

Reconnecting our city at a time when we are all feeling the effects of record-level social isolation, the need for genuine connection has never been more urgent. With nearly 1 in 7 Hong Kong residents facing mental health challenges, we are seeing a city in need of community. While technology and AI have changed the way we work, they cannot replace the power of a smile or a helping hand.

This year’s Serve-a-thon is a call to action to swap "screen time" for "human time." It is an invitation to step outside our digital lives and strengthen the emotional resilience of our city through the simple, profound act of volunteering.

How to get involved:  May 10th–24th, 2026

Over the past decade, Serve-a-thon has touched the lives of over 144,000 individuals. For many, it has been the very first step on a lifelong journey of giving back. 

Volunteers of all ages and backgrounds are invited to join, and can choose from hundreds of activities, ranging from food preparation and elderly care to environmental conservation and youth mentoring.
