2020 changed how supply chains were managed and how they function. What does transparency look like across our changing supply chains? Will transparency and social reporting improve labour conditions and reduce modern day slavery?

 

About the Keynote Speaker

Matt Friedman is an international human trafficking expert with more than 30 years’ experience. He is CEO of The Mekong Club, an organization of Hong Kong’s leading businesses which have joined forces to help end all forms of modern slavery. Mr. Friedman previously worked for USAID and the United Nations in over 30 countries. Mr. Friedman offers technical advice to numerous governments, banks and corporations working to eliminate all forms of modern slavery and is the author of twelve books. In 2017, Mr. Friedman won Asia’s prestigious “Communicator of the Year” Gold Award.

 

 

 

About the speakers

Cintia Nunes is the General Manager, Head of Asia at The Mills Fabrica, leading the team to become the go-to platform for sustainability, impact and innovation in techstyle (technology x lifestyle) and agrifood tech space via Fabrica’s investment portfolio, incubation programme, interactive spaces and it’s environmental and social impact accountability.

Prior to joining Fabrica, Cintia worked in strategy, insights and marketing at an FMCG multinational company where she focused on assessing consumer behaviour insights and formalizing business strategies for more than 10 brands. She then pivoted to a Series A apparel startup where she helped drive brand awareness, customer acquisition, and retail and customer experience. Subsequently, she joined one of the social impact led platform where she helped to pivot its business model, soon making it one of the prominent ecosystem system builders in Hong Kong through advocacy, bridging of resources and strategic partnerships.

With strong passion in driving social impact and systemic change, she is a strong advocate in cross-sector collaborations. She holds a BSc Economics degree from the University College London.

 

Marianne Hughes is an award winning entrepreneur with a vision to humanise the supply chain. KNO Global helps brands like Decathlon and Marks and Spencer to monitor worker well-being across the supply chain and reduce risk. For factories it helps reduce the cost of labour turnover and attract sales. She started as a consumer then worked on the line at a factory in China building KNO Global, and is recognised by Forbes 30 under 30 2022 and Tatler Asia Gen T. She has extensive experience across factories in Asia, with a mission to reach 50m factory workers globally.

 

 

Mini vandePol is the Head of Baker McKenzie's Asia Pacific Investigations, Compliance & Ethics Group. She has more than 30 years' experience advising multinationals on a variety of ESG risks, including sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, human rights violations related to supply chains, and significant financial and other misconduct. She regularly assists companies in establishing and enhancing their risk management programs, assessing risks in transactional opportunities, and credibly investigating alleged misconduct.

Mini is a member of the World Economic Forum's Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI), is on the WEF’s Global Future Council and holds the position of Vice President of the Women’s White Collar Defense Association (HK Chapter). Mini was named "Best in White Collar Crime" Euromoney Asia Women in Business Law Awards and "Woman Lawyer of the Year" in The Macallan ALB Hong Kong Law Awards. She is also named as one of the "Top 100 Women in Investigations" by Global Investigations Review” and been awarded "Top 100 Women in Litigation" (White-collar crime, China and Hong Kong) by Benchmark Asia Pacific.

About the moderator

Ajay MK is the Group Head of Diversity and Inclusion at the Swire Group. Prior to joining Swire, he was the HR Director for the Asia Pacific division at Colgate Palmolive, based in Hong Kong. In that role, he was responsible for leading all aspects of HR for a diverse workforce across twenty countries, including management of labour and employee relations in fifteen factories and overseeing implementation of all labour standards. His previous leadership roles in Colgate Palmolive include Executive Vice President – HR for South Asia and member of the Risk Management Committee in the Board of Directors (based in Mumbai), HR Director – Global IT & Business Services (based in New York City) and HR Director – South ASEAN region (based in Kuala Lumpur). He holds master’s degrees in Psychology and HR Management, and is a published poet and fiction writer.
