Join the Chamber for a thought-provoking and insightful conversation featuring, Mr. Leong Cheung, Chief Strategy Officer of the Exchange Fund Investment Office at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and Mr. Lapman Lee, Professor of Practice (ESG, FinTech, Governance); Convenor of the Center for Economic Sustainability and Entrepreneurial Finance (CESEF) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
The discussion will focus on insights from Mr. Cheung’s 10-year journey, starting from the Jockey Club as Executive Director for Charity and Community, where he was responsible for a USD 550 million annual donation budget, to his current role as HKMA’s Chief Strategy Officer. The conversation will include highlights from the creation of Tai Kwun.
The event will provide an opportunity for the audience to actively participate through a Q&A session, allowing for further exploration of key topics.

About the speakers
Mr. Leong Cheung is the Chief Strategy Officer of the Exchange Fund Investment Office at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA). Before joining the HKMA, Mr. Cheung was the Executive Director of Charities & Community at The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC). In this capacity, he was also the founding co-chair of the Hong Kong Chapter of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN SDSN).
Prior to joining the HKJC, Mr. Cheung was the Operating Partner of Bain Capital. Before that he was the Managing Director of Global Sourcing & Supply Chain at Esquel Group, the founder and CEO of an education focused internet venture, and a senior consultant at the Boston Consulting Group.
Mr Cheung graduated BBA from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and MBA from the Harvard Business School.
Mr. Lapman Lee is a Professor of Practice (ESG, FinTech, Governance) and a convenor of the HK Polytechnic University Corporate Sustainability & Sustainable Finance Center (CESEF).
He advises boards and CEOs of listed companies but also policymakers and regulators on governance and risk management and was a Deloitte regulatory affairs & risk partner, where his focus included family offices and sovereign wealth funds.
Lapman is also an Hong Kong Institute for Monetary Research (part of HKMA) advisory council member for applied research and a Vice Chair of the British Chamber Financial Services Committee.
