From Ukraine to Gaza, geopolitical tensions have erupted in flashpoints around the world in recent years, and Asia Pacific is no exception. Businesses are increasingly concerned about the impact of geopolitical volatility on their business continuity, supply chains, key assets and people, etc. How will these tensions develop and disrupt my business over the next few years? At this session, Tom Newell, Associate Director at Control Risks, will share insights on how organisations can build geopolitical resilience frameworks for Asia Pacific, ranging from preparedness benchmarking to scenario planning and risk assessment, to help manage risks and unearth new opportunities in a time of growing geopolitical friction.
About the speaker
Tom Newell is an Associate Director at Control Risks, covering Greater China and North Asia. Based in Hong Kong, he is responsible for consulting on crisis management, physical security, business continuity and complex problem-solving.
Tom began his career as an analyst in the Control Risks’ crisis response practice, tasked with providing analytical support to consultants deployed on active kidnap and extortion cases. He subsequently held security consulting roles in both London and Singapore, conducting a wide variety of risk management tasks on-the-ground in more than 20 countries across Europe, Africa and Asia.
