Winning the War for Talent in Hong Kong

Attracting and retaining top talent has always been critical for success, but for Hong Kong the stakes have increased significantly. After many turbulent years the talent pool is embracing the resumption of mobility, not just in terms of positions, but locations and vocations as well. Organisations must compete on a much broader base with a wider array of considerations in order to secure the best people. Learn from leading organisations in Hong Kong how they are embracing these challenges to succeed in getting and keeping the top talent.

About the speakers

Adam Michael Toctan

I am the Co-Founder and Executive Partner for DMCG Global, a specialist recruitment business focussed on identifying the best of the best within the creative, communications, media and technology space. We have 13 offices around the globe, and 50+ staff. I have 15 years recruitment experience, and have lived and worked in London, Dubai, Singapore and Hong Kong. Personally I oversee the majority of our new business and client development projects internationally, setting up the Asia arm of our business up in 2016 in Hong Kong, before launching Singapore a year later.

We are proud to be partners with both multi-million dollar advertising giants, growing SME’s, tech start-ups and fiercely independent brands and agencies. Every client and candidate is treated in the same way, with honestly and integrity, and with the same level of respect and advice that has made us one of Asia’s most respected specialist recruitment agencies. Our future growth is centred around building out our Middle East and Asia operations.

Christy Ho was born in Hong Kong, grew up in Vancouver and has worked in a few countries in the past decade. Currently, she leads the Global Talent Acquisition function at BitMEX; the world’s leading cryptocurrency derivatives trading platform which has pioneered cryptocurrency trading through relentless commitment to change, and continues to set benchmarks for innovation, liquidity, and security.

With recruitment experience across a variety of agencies, fintech, and now crypto, Christy looks after employer branding and the end-to-end recruitment journey, covering different business areas from tech to non-tech positions across the globe. Her role allows her to work with people from all walks of life and to learn about the unique story each brings. This is an industry that rewards her for helping people realise their potential and setting them on their way to achieving great things.

When Christy is not working, she devotes time to volunteering. She is part of the Terry Fox Run Hong Kong organizing committee, where they organize the annual event to raise money for local cancer research. As a Simon Fraser University Alumni Ambassador, she leads networking events to bring people closer and engage with the communities. Recently, she started supporting Inspiring girls by mentoring young girls on their career choices, options in life, motivating them to aim higher.

Samantha is an experienced HR Executive with a drive for establishing the right focus on people within organisations.   With over 20 years of experience across Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Europe, Samantha has partnered with a number of leadership teams and clients on HR Strategies and change programmes both in house and in an external consulting capacity.  Her knowledge of both psychology and human resource practices provide the basis with which she has approached and implemented user centric improvement initiatives across multiple locations and industries.  She has also worked on a number of organization design, M&A, HR team transformation and culture change initiatives.
