Tenants x Owners - How Increased Engagement Can Lead to ESG Advancement

Traditionally, it has been "Tenants vs Owners". Building owners and tenants are often characterised by conflicting interests and split incentives.

However, in a rapidly changing world, with ESG requirements at top of many people’s minds, how do we move to "Tenants x Owners?"  How can increased engagement and cooperation on both sides help owners create a net zero building that is energy efficient and help tenants boost productivity, sustainability and future-proof their business?

At this event, we will bring together experts to hear their views and understand their challenges. The speakers will help you to understand a new process by which both parties can embed sustainability into the built environment and find common ground which can be leveraged to achieve shared goals.

With over 10 years’ experience integrating wellness into the commercial real estate landscape Patrick is currently Head of Real Estate at Pure International. Through this time, he has witnessed dramatic changes to the way health and fitness facilities are delivered and used.
While Covid 19 has presented the biggest challenge ever faced by the fitness industry, it has also accelerated the growth in demand for health and wellbeing.
He believes landlords, occupiers, and service providers must now work alongside to ensure wellness facilities are provided at the scale and nature that the market requires.

Ravi is a Hong Kong-based businessman and investor.

He is the owner and managing director of Town House, which is Hong Kong and Macau’s leading distributor and retailer of premium home accessories and tableware brands, as well as the owner of Eclipse Hospitality Group, one of Hong Kong’s longest-established restaurant groups.

In his role at Town House, Ravi handles day-to-day operations, overseeing the company’s growing portfolio of brands, and its ongoing expansion across retail, wholesale, services and e-commerce. Brands within the Town House portfolio include Riedel Crystal, Alessi, Maxwell & Williams, Nachtmann Crystal, Carrs Silver and over a dozen other manufacturers from around the world.

Ravi joined the company in 1989. Under his helm, Town House grew from three retail stores to its current eight locations across the city, including a fast-growing online shop. He also established the company’s wholesale division — anchored by a 20,000 square-foot warehouse — allowing it to serve the leading hotels, restaurants, retailers and clubs in Hong Kong and Macau, in addition to major projects with the world’s top wine and spirits companies like Treasury Wine, Accolade, MHD and Pernod Ricard. This division is now a key pillar of the business.

Ravi has played an active role in Hong Kong’s public affairs. In the 1990s Ravi led a lobby group that successfully convinced the UK Government to enact legislation which restored full British citizenship to the non-Chinese population of Hong Kong. Ravi was also invited to speak about Hong Kong in Britain’s House of Lords in 1997.

Ravi and his wife have also set up their own charitable foundation, The Zubin Mahtani Gidumal Foundation which works in Hong Kong to improve the lives of Hong Kong’s underprivileged ethnic minority population.

Ravi Gidumal was born in Hong Kong. The Gidumal family has been based in Hong Kong and China for over 100 years, having originated from the Indian subcontinent.
