CollaborateHK: A New Approach to Community Initiatives

CollaborateHK: A New Approach to Community Initiatives

Speakers:

Christopher Law, JP, Founding Director, the Oval Partnership
Margaret Brooke, CEO, Professional Property Services Limited

Many concepts to help improve life at a neighbourhood level start small and are often initiated by residents and local interest groups. However, hurdles such as high start-up costs, complex application procedures and lack of experience often prevent putting these into action.

In view of the rising need to enhance how community-driven initiatives are delivered, CollaborateHK (Hong Kong’s first-ever not-for-profit advisory and collaboration platform in this field) has been assisting community groups to overcome the challenges they may face when delivering vacant land activation projects. Through facilitating the implementation of community initiatives of different types, scale and time span with a bottom-up placemaking approach, CollaborateHK stands with the community to enhance the well-being of local residents and eventually, the liveability of Hong Kong.

Join Christopher Law and Margaret Brooke, co-founders of CollaborateHK, who will share both the challenges and opportunities associated with these projects, as well as their ideas and best practice to delivering community-led projects across the city.
