 About the speakers

Johnny Choi has vast experience in complex and strategic employment advice for multinational clients, such as international human resources projects, large scale layoffs and restructurings, cross-border secondments, employee data privacy, HR investigations, litigious employment disputes, and contentious removal of company executives. 

Johnny is recognised consistently for his employment law expertise by leading legal directory Chambers Asia Pacific since 2013. He is a “Leading Individual” and his China team is ranked Tier 1 by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific. He has spent over 17 years in mainland China advising multinationals on their employment law issues. Given his international background, Johnny also regularly advises Chinese clients on the people issues they encounter in their overseas investments and operations, including restrictive covenants, incentives and equity plans. Johnny supports international and regional clients across a range of industries, including technology, life sciences, financial and retail.

 

Maggie Lee has over 25 years of experience with KPMG. She was located in KPMG Shenzhen office from 2004 until 2011. Maggie has extensive experience in providing audit, advisory and capital market services to Hong Kong and mainland Chinese companies. She has a broad client base in a variety of sectors such as consumer and industrial market industries, property and infrastructure, education, healthcare, high-growth innovative sectors. Her clients include a mix of state-owned enterprises, privately–owned enterprises and multinational companies. With her background of working in Greater Bay Area, Maggie is a key member of KPMG’s GBA task force, helping to drive the initiative internally and externally.

 

 

Raj Bhatti is currently the President of the Hong Kong Association of Pharmaceutical Industry (HKAPI) 2022-2024. It is the mission of the HKAPI to drive expedient access to innovative healthcare solutions to patients of Hong Kong and Macao with high ethical standards. For this term, the Association committed to accelerating Hong Kong’s primary care capabilities, innovation access and R&D investment attractiveness. 

Raj serves as VP & General Manager of GSK Hong Kong and Macau. He has 25 years of Pharma experience in markets including China, Japan, the US, EU 5, Canada, Asia Pacific and Emerging Markets. His visionary perspective has earned him opportunities to perform different leadership roles ranging from General Management, BU Head, Global Marketing and Regional Commercial Development.

Raj is fully aligned with GSK company culture: ambitious for patients, accountable for impact and doing the right thing. Raj’s philosophy in life and work is to champion equality, tap into the minds & wisdom around you, engage by listening first and always be transparent, authentic and kind.

 

Wendy Chan is the GBA Growth Director at JLL within its Corporate Appraisal and Advisory department, primarily responsible for business development & marketing in Greater China. 

She has been instrumental in JLL’s expansion of valuation services in China and continues her responsibilities for marketing and people development for the business line for the past 6 years. Beginning her career as a financial analyst and then switching to business development, she now has 16 years’ experience in providing financial valuation as well as real estate valuation and advisory services to more than 200 corporates and funds such as CITIC Capital, Country Garden, Huarong Group, China Merchants Group etc. 

She leads a CSR initiative for JLL cultivating entrepreneurship within band 4 and 5 schools students in Hong Kong and is a committee member for Sowers Action focused on orphanage provision in China. 

Additionally, Wendy is the Chairlady of Diversity & Inclusion of JLL Greater China since 2017. She also worked extensively with The Women’s Foundation, both mentor in 2016-2017 and as an advisory council member for the mentoring programme in 2017-2019.

 

About the moderator

Lapman Lee is a Professor of Practice (ESG, Sustainable Finance and FinTech) at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and area convenor of its Climate Change and Sustainable Finance Center or Excellence. 

His expert advice is sought after by policymakers and regulators, financial institutions, listed and privately-held family enterprises in Asia and Europe in the areas of climate change and sustainability, financial markets and financial communications, innovation and technology. Areas key to unlocking the potential of the Greater Bay Area. 

Prior to his current portfolio career, Lapman was the Deloitte China practice leader for family enterprises and family offices, and a financial services consulting partner, and Kroll Managing Director. 

Lapman is active in his industry roles as a Board member of the FinTech Association of Hong Kong, where he co-founded the InsurTech Committee, and a Vice Chair of the British Chamber of Commerce Financial Markets Committee. He is also an adjunct professor of the Chulalongkorn University School of Integrated Innovation in Bangkok, Thailand.
