Synergy Between Business and Education in Sustainability

In light of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report 2021, there has never been a more important time for education and business to work together purposefully. The interaction between business and education is vital in preparing a work force that has the skills and knowledge base to meet the ensuing demands of reaching carbon neutrality. With the world population approaching eight billion people we will require new and innovative approaches to ensure that we meet the carbon reduction targets to avoid the concerning scenarios that have been predicted.

Education takes place in schools that are largely removed from the professional environments that students will work in during their careers. It is, therefore, important that business can work with schools more closely in terms of mutual benefit; the students get industry experience and business gains fresh insights and the perspective of youth.

The panel discussion with experts from industry and education will discuss how successful synergy between education and business has worked and can be developed further to meet the needs for a more sustainable world. With the tipping point not far off in terms of the transition away from the use of fossil fuels and other non-sustainable practices the insights of the panel we believe will provide useful food for thought.
