As part of the Inspirational Women Series, The Chamber is delighted to host Denise Wong, Chief Financial Officer, Green Monday Group, who joined the organisation in 2021 after almost two decades as an investment banker. Join us to hear more about Green Monday’s mission and purpose and how this aligned with Denise’s purpose, as well as start-up culture and the challenges and opportunities that go with that.

As Chief Financial Officer of Green Monday Group (“Green Monday”), Denise leads the finance, corporate finance and investor relations functions at one of Asia’s leading alternative protein companies.  She joined Green Monday in 2021 after almost two decades as an investment banker.   As a passionate advocate of the environment and sustainability, Denise believes embracing shared value and innovation are critical to solving the most pressing global issues.  This was the key catalyst that drove her career change and decision to join the Green Monday management team.

Green Monday was founded in 2012 with the mission to “Make Change Happen, Make Green Common.”   At its core, Green Monday strives to promote a flexitarian lifestyle and empower communities with an ecosystem of wholesome and sustainable food choices.   Green Monday’s business model is multi-faceted with its key business segments comprising OmniFoods; Green Common; Green Monday Ventures; and Green Monday Foundation.  OmniFoods, its plant-based food tech arm, is behind the award winning OmniPork, OmniEats, and recently launched OmniSeafood products; Green Common is a one stop omni-channel platform showcasing plant-based foods and promoting green living to consumers across Asia; Green Monday Ventures is an impact investment arm dedicated to supporting mission-aligned businesses and entrepreneurs globally, and Green Monday Foundation is its non-profit advocacy arm.   Green Monday was featured on Fortune’s 2020 “Change the World” list, and was named one of Fortune China’s “20 Most Socially Influential Start-Ups in China”.
Prior to joining Green Monday, Denise was a Managing Director at Barclays PLC, where she last served as head of the Asia consumer & retail coverage team.   Over the course of her career, Denise has been based in both Hong Kong and New York, and has advised global and regional consumer, retail, power and utility companies on cross-border M&A transactions and capital raises involving over $80 billion in capital.    Throughout her career, Denise has been a strong advocate for gender diversity, and inclusion and champions social entrepreneurship and citizenship.  She has chaired numerous diversity networks at Barclays, held board positions at non-profit organizations such as the HKIS HK Alumni Association, and spearheaded numerous successful shared value collaborations between corporates and NGOs in Hong Kong.
Denise graduated from Yale University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics.  She is the proud mother of a baby girl, Madelyn.
