About the speakers
Gordon Brown served as Prime Minister (2007-2010), Chancellor (1997-2007) and as MP in his home county, Fife (1983-2015).
He is the UN Special Envoy for Global Education and a passionate advocate for children’s rights and educational opportunity for all. Gordon chairs the Education Commission, the Education Cannot Wait HLSG and the Inquiry on Protecting Children in Conflict.
Gordon is the author of several books including Beyond the Crash and My Life, Our Times.
Dr Adam Marshall has been Director General since October 2016. He was previously Executive Director for Policy and External Affairs at the British Chambers of Commerce. Charged with representing the interests of many thousands of companies, Adam works at the highest levels of business, government, and the media to tackle many of the key issues facing firms in Britain today.
Prior to joining the BCC, Adam helped start up the Centre for Cities, build commercial links between industry and universities, and worked in the broadcast media. He holds a BA from Yale University, and MPhil and PhD degrees from the University of Cambridge.
