Mental Health and Wellness

Mental Health and Wellness

Supported by the Healthcare Committee

Please note that the webinar has been postponed to Tuesday 20th October.

Speakers:

Dr. Yat Chow, Executive Medical Director, Quality HealthCare Medical Services Limited

Angus Slater, Managing Director, Bupa (Asia) Ltd.

Hannah McLeod, Head of Strategy and Marketing, City Mental Health Alliance Hong Kong

Po Wan Cheng, Chief Operations Officer, Mind HK

In Hong Kong 1 in 7 people are said to suffer from some form of mental illness. Among these individuals with common mental disorders, such as anxiety and depressive disorders, as few as 26% seek mental health services because many of them do not know where to seek help outside of hospitals. While the government healthcare sector takes care of the majority of the load, the increase in patient numbers outweighs the increase in psychiatrists. Wait times also can exceed two years. The COVID-19 pandemic and resulting economic downturn will surely aggravate the situation further.

In this webinar, we will look at how the private healthcare sector can be leveraged for the milder mental health issues, and the role of employers that can be played in supporting employee health and wellbeing. Last but not the least, the speakers will share some insights into the dedicated work that NGOs do to support workplace mental health.

Details on how to join will be sent via email by 5pm the day before the webinar.
