Boris's Brexit: What Does it Mean for Business?

This event has been postponed. Stay tuned for more information on the rearranged date.

Speakers:

Philip Cowley, Professor of Politics, Queen Mary University of London

Adam Ferguson, Partner, Eversheds Sutherland

After three and a half years of negotiation, debate and multiple elections, the UK’s exit date from the European Union has been set for 31 January 2020. This marks the next step in the Brexit process, when the UK will enter a transition period until 31 December 2020.

During this period, trading between the UK and the EU will remain the same while a free trade deal is being negotiated. At the same time, negotiations will be underway for many other aspects of the UK’s partnership with the EU, including areas such as law enforcement, data sharing, and security.

What does this mean for businesses, both in the UK and here in Hong Kong? After years of uncertainty, can we finally expect to have a better idea of what the UK’s future relationship with the EU will look like?

Join us to hear from Philip Cowley, Professor of Politics for Queen May University London and Adam Ferguson, Partner at Eversheds Sutherland, as they shed light on the future of the UK.
