The Power of Experience-Driven Retail

Part of the Retail and Consumer Series

Supported by the Luxury & Retail Committee

How should companies react to changes characterised by supply chain disruption, consumer preference for experience, and rapid adoption of emerging technologies?

Speaker:

Phil Lai, Partner, PwC China

In last year’s report ‘China's next retail disruption: End-to-end value chain digitisation’, PwC examined the development of “New Retail” and discussed on how the retail value chain is being transformed by digitisation. This year, the newly released Global Consumer Insights Survey (GCIS) has shed light on the emerging significance of customer experience (CX). Taking the global insights with a local spin, PwC’s China/ Hong Kong report, titled ‘Back to the core: Reinvigorate experience-driven retail at a time of uncertainty’, expanded the New Retail narrative with a focus on customer experience in today’s technology-empowered world. PwC look at present-day customer experience trends and how they, in turn, are supported by the organisations implementing them, and what needs to be changed to make both customer experience (CX) and employee experience (EX) part of their winning strategy.
