Much of the focus of blockchain applications to date has been with cryptocurrencies.  This has spread wider into financial services but has been somewhat slower to enter in other industries. The panel will address the readiness, willingness and attempts of incumbent non-financial industry players to deploy blockchain solutions.

The panellists from EY and Guardtime will describe the first marine commercial blockchain solution in history which their companies launched along with Maersk, Microsoft and the insurance industry.  The solution known as InsurWave will initially address the expense ratio issue facing the industry plus the ability to do real time pricing for vessels at sea.  The panel will discuss the impact and reuse of this to other industries such as construction, energy and aviation.

The panel will go on to discuss the use of blockchain in the healthcare industry with a focus on specific application to the Greater Bay Area and the Silk Road.
