Britcham & KPMG Rugby Dinner

Please email for more information

Come along to our annual Britcham & KPMG Rugby Dinner! As always, guests can expect a lot of laughs, food and plenty of beer at the Hong Kong Football Club. Joining us for dinner this year, we have Jason Leonard, Ben Gollings and Doddie Weir, sharing their experiences and anecdotes from the field. MC'ed by our favourite John Bentley, this is an evening not to be missed!

There will also be an auction for magnificent prizes, with proceeds going to two charities: 'My Name'5 Doddie Foundation' and 'Society for Community Organisation'.

George "Doddie" Weir is a Scottish former rugby union player, who represented the Scotland national team 61 times. He was the first recipient of the Famous Grouse Scotland Player of the Five Nations Award in 1997, and that same year, represented the British and Irish Lions on their successful tour to South Africa. He played for Melrose RFC, and was part of the team that won six Scottish club championships, and was also part of the Premiership winning Newcastle Falcons side.

In June 2017, as part of Global MND Awareness Day, Weir revealed he was suffering from Motor Neuron Disease. In November 2017, Doddie Weir set up a charity named 'My Name'5 Doddie Foundation' to raise funds to aid research into the causes of Motor Neurone Disease and investigate potential cures. At the dinner, we will be supporting Doddie Weir's charity to raise funds in helping those suffering from MND.

Jason Leonard OBE is an English former rugby union player, and has been the president of the Rugby Football Union since 2015.

Nicknamed The Fun Bus, Leonard was a prop forward who won 114 caps for England and five for the British and Irish Lions. His total of 119 was a world record until 2006, when it was surpassed by George Gregan.

Leonard played in England teams which won four Grand Slams (1991, 1992, 1995 and 2003) and the 2003 Rugby World Cup, and was part of the British and Irish Lions squad that won the test series during their 1997 tour of South Africa.

Ben Gollings is an English former rugby union player who currently works as a rugby coach. He is best known for his time with the England national rugby sevens team, and is the career leader in points scored on the World Rugby Sevens Series with over 2,300 points.

Gollings was the leading scorer three times on the IRB Sevens Series and his accomplishments include several records in the IRB Sevens World Series. Gollings became the first rugby sevens player to score over 2,000 points in his career during 2009, finishing his career with over 2,300 points.

Supporting Charities

'My Name'5 Doddie Foundation' aims to raise funds to aid research into the causes of Motor Neurone Disease and investigate potential cures, and to make grants to individuals suffering from MND, to enable them to live as fulfilled a life as possible.

Society for Community Organisation (SoCO) is a human rights pioneer in Hong Kong. SoCO firmly believes that everyone should be entitled to equal rights. Equal opportunity for participation and fair distribution of social resources is the foundation of human rights. In the face of the widening disparity between the rich and the poor, and the increasingly restrictive political arena, we stand firm in our crusade to establish an equal society and to build a strong power base for the people. We are motivated by a common dream, and that is: "Let us work hand in hand and shoulder to shoulder to build a caring, equal and just society".
