MENTORING SCHEME

Get involved in the Britcham Emerging Leaders Mentoring Scheme and receive career and business development advice from senior business personnel.

Britcham Emerging Leaders Mentorship Scheme

The aim of the mentorship scheme is to provide “Emerging Leaders” the opportunity to receive career and business development advice and guidance from senior business personnel at the British Chamber. The target demographic will be young professionals in Hong Kong who are eager to learn new skills, seek professional advice and forge new relationships within the business community.

The scheme will run for a period of 12 months from the date of the first meeting. Guidance will be provided on the structure of the scheme but the emphasis will be on the individual participant to set objectives and targets with their respective mentor to achieve personal and professional development.

The Programme

The Mentorship Scheme will have two (2) components: One on One session and relevant Britcham events

A. One on One Sessions

Mentors and mentees will be matched according to specific areas of work and interests based on the application. It is recommended that the matched mentors and mentees meet 6 – 8 times throughout the programme year based on agreed schedule. In the meetings, they are encouraged to discuss and share information about important topics and issues related to work and life, such as work-life balance, lifelong education, career planning and career change, leadership, and networking. The topics/themes for discussion should be set based on what the mentees and mentors find most suitable and interesting.

B. Relevant Britcham events

E.g. Business Angel breakfasts, breakfast briefings, skills workshops and networking events

During the year long programme, there would hopefully be events where the topics are of interest to both the mentor and the mentee. Mentors are encouraged to invite mentees to these events. These sessions will form an interactive platform for mentees to learn, participate and share their own ideas and experiences.

Structure

- Quarterly progress updates to be sent to coordinators
- Bi-annual 360 feedback and agree revised goals
