Scottish Business Group

The role of the group is leveraged on the well-established links between Scotland and Hong Kong. The group provides a central business contact point for all current and new Chamber members who have an interest in Scotland, or Scottish related business. It provides a networking access point for Scottish companies seeking to develop business interests in Hong Kong and the region; organises events which facilitate the transfer of experience and expertise between Scottish and Hong Kong business and institutions; and to preserve and expand contacts with the Chinese business community in Hong Kong and the PRC and, in particular, to provide a continuing link to Scotland for Hong Kong based alumni of Scottish universities.

Alun was recently the Head of the Technical Audit Department for both KPMG China and KPMG Asia Pacific and was recently a member of three KPMG Global Committees and Steering Groups involved in audit methodology and audit training as well as a member of the Audit and Assurance Standards Committee of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Alun is currently taking some time off before considering the second half of his life! Alun is a keen rugby player and is Chairman of The Pot Bellied Pigs Rugby Football Club and a regular player for Kowloon Rugby Football Club

Chris has worked for employers, contractors, project managers and consultants advising on contract drafting, management issues, claims administration and preparation, litigation, risk analysis and dealing with dispute resolution issues relating to infrastructure and construction projects. Within Clyde & Co's Construction Group, Chris continues to focus on such matters. Prior to joining Clyde & Co, Chris was a partner in a local practice, having spent time prior to this resolving construction issues, latterly as the Managing Director, of the Hong Kong office of a NYSE listed global project management and construction claims company. Chris is also admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales (currently non-practising) and is dual qualified being a Fellow of both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (as a Chartered Engineering Surveyor) and the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors. In addition, Chris is also professionally recognised as a member of: the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators; the Institute of Surveyors Hong Kong; and the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia, and is a Past Chairman (2012-2013) of the Society of Construction Law Hong Kong.

Starting out at Compliance Asia Consulting Limited, Jamie became Head of Licensing which involved preparing Business Plans for Financial Institutions looking to establish a presence in Hong Kong. Jamie currently works at Morgan Stanley as a Sales Trader in the Macro Sales Team covering Hedge funds, Banks and Real Money Managers. Outside of work Jamie is a very keen sportsman playing Golf, Tennis and Rugby. Jamie plays Rugby for the Hong Kong Football Club and has represented Hong Kong 10 times at International Level.

Prior to the Union, he spent 11 years in the Hong Kong Police Force, where he served in a number of roles including Police Tactical Unit Instructor, Assistant Manager of the Police Officers' Club and presenter of the "Police Report" TV show. He has a MA (Oxon) and completed a PGC in Sports & Recreation Management at HKU Space in 2001. He represented Hong Kong at "A" level at both 15s and 7s and is a two-time winner of the Police RFC "Raz Erasmus Award". He is Director of local charity, Operation Breakthrough, which uses sport as a medium to help at-risk local youngsters. Robbie is married with one son, a serving police officer, and a small dog.
