General Manager - Global Sourcing
- Opening of a new sourcing organization based in Hong Kong
Our client is a one of global 100 best companies to work for! They are opening a new sourcing office on Hong Kong and inviting a high caliber global sourcing expert to lead the newly created organization.
Reporting to the head office you will deliver the sourcing strategy and planned margin gains for the business. You will be a member of Asian board of directors and your responsibilities will include:
· Recruit, manage and lead a team of 30 people in the Asia office and ensure that ongoing training and development structures are in place.
· Delivery of the company’s 3-5 year global sourcing plan.
· Identify sourcing opportunities from Asia and ensure these are captured within the global sourcing plan via continuous focus on new vendor/product development
· Organize and contribute to an annual key vendor conference to ensure key strategic initiatives and plans are communicated to the Asia vendor base – both current and new
· Ensure all legal aspects of operating an office within Hong Kong are adhered to
· Work closely with the head of global sourcing to ensure sourcing and vendor strategies are in place to support the planned growth in global sourcing
· Ensure functional managers are working as one team so as to enable delivery of globally sourced projects to required CPA’s and KPI’s
· Form a network with other UK/European sourcing operations in Asia to drive benchmarks and best practice around Asian sourcing – implement changes as required
· Ensure a constant drive around efficiency and costs is inherent across the Asia operation.
· Ensure the office is managed in line with the cost/shipment ratios identified within the plan.
To qualify you will be a degree holder with at least 10 years of experience in global sourcing, category management in Asia. You will be a strong leader with exceptional inter-personal and people management skills. Strategic thinker with the ability to also focus on details, strong communicator with the ability to influence at all levels. You will have business acumen with an eye for detail on numbers. Knowledge of operating a business within Hong Kong, along with running a sourcing operation/large category within a sourcing operation is essential. Fluency, both written and verbal, in English is required, Mandarin & Cantonese a distinct advantage.
