How Do Great Organisations Nurture Culture Even As They Transform?

Now more than ever, business leaders need to consider their culture in the workplace, and act decisively if they find it wanting. The business case is just too strong to leave it to chance. A number of shifts are pushing organisations towards a tipping point as they face unprecedented social and environmental challenges. The pace of change and need for agility is growing.

Q5 spoke to 30 top business leaders from a range of industries across the globe about nurturing their organisations’ cultures through change. These captains of industry agree that it is a topic that is notoriously difficult to pin down, and harder to get right. Q5 captured how these leaders view culture and identified 4 key things great organisations do in the face of transformation – leading to their “Nurturing Culture” report.

Two of Q5's founders will share with you the findings and insights of the report, and invite you to come along with your thoughts and questions on this topic. There will be an open discussion and Q&A session to encourage everyone to share their stories and perspectives.

About the speakers

Daryl is one of the founders of Q5, and has over 20 years’ experience of working with businesses to design and deliver organisation change. He has a track record of grounding change in the organisation’s strategy, ensuring not only that the change happens at a programme level, but also with its people and culture.

Daryl has worked with a wide range of blue-chip companies through their transformations, including Bank of America, the BBC, Burberry, Eircom, the FSA, The Guardian, News International and Virgin Media. He has recently moved from Q5’s London practice to set up their fourth office in Hong Kong.

Olly is the managing partner and co-founder of Q5. He works with business leaders to help them clarify their strategies, engage their top teams, and structure the work in a way that will deliver successful results.

With experience and passion in engaging people to implement change initiatives, Olly has focused on nurturing culture within Q5 that led it to become #34 out of 100 ‘Best Companies To Work For’ by the UK Times.

On culture, he thinks that “a leader needs to find that unique hook that is part of their organisation’s culture that can be maintained throughout. A leader must find an idiosyncrasy that is part of a firm and forms an emotional contract with the people, something they will not find elsewhere.”
