Barry Cheung has been Chairman of the Urban Renewal Authority since 2007 and a board member since 2001. He is Chairman of the Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Disciplined Services Salaries and Conditions of Service, and Alternate Chairman of the Pay Trend Survey Committee, a member of the Commission on Strategic Development and a member of the Standing Commission on Civil Service Salaries and Conditions of Service.
Mr. Cheung was a former Chairman of the Corruption Prevention Advisory Committee at the ICAC. He was a full-time member of the Central Policy Unit on secondment from McKinsey & Company. He was a consultant with McKinsey and Company in the US and Asia.
