Dan Schwartz is the author of "The Future of Finance: How Private Equity and Venture Capital Will Shape the Global Economy". At this breakfast, Dan will present a critical look at the global economy, the role of private equity and venture capital within it, and where both are headed in the years ahead.
As part of his remarks, he will give a brief introduction to private equity and venture capital, and how they were impacted by events that triggered the global downturn in 2008. Dan will discuss the industry's top firms and what they do; highlight key issues going forward including proposed government regulation, succession, and globalization; offer insights into future opportunities; and propose a new theory of corporate governance to replace today's corporate norm.
Dan Schwartz began his career in the financial world, working in Houston and New York. In 1993, his firm acquired an interest in the Asian Venture Capital Journal (AVCJ) in Hong Kong. Dan and the AVCJ team built one of the world's premier source of ideas, information and analysis for private equity and venture capital in both Asia and globally. He is currently Chairman Emeritus of AVCJ Group, Ltd. which publishes the Asian Venture Capital Journal Weekly and also organises the Global Asian Private Equity and Venture Forum. AVCJ is headquartered in Hong Kong, with representative office in Beijing.
