The CBI is the premier lobbying organisation for UK business on national and international issues. They work with the UK government, international legislators and policy-makers to help UK businesses compete effectively.

Richard Lambert, the CBI's Director General, will be give his analysis of the current business environment in the UK, and the issues directly affecting the ability of businesses to operate both in the UK and abroad. He will give an update on the key policy areas in which the CBI is active in lobbying government, in the UK and internationally, and give an outlook for any issues which will affect and challenge businesses in the near future.

Having studied history at Balliol College, Oxford, Richard joined the Financial Times in 1966. He edited the Lex column in the 1970s, becoming financial editor in 1979.
