The HKSAR Government has released a consultation document on “Hong Kong’s Climate Strategy and Action Agenda” proposing a target and broad strategies to reduce Hong Kong’s CO2 intensity by 50-60% by 2020. The major initiatives proposed in the document relate to energy usage and production, including a proposal to alter the fuel mix for electricity production through using more natural gas and nuclear power, and cutting dramatically the use of coal.
Mr Richard Lancaster, Managing Director of CLP Power, will explain the implications of the Government’s proposed plan and discuss the key issues to be considered by Hong Kong in moving towards a low-carbon economy.
