The core principles of accounting, management and business are the same the world over. But business cultures differ in different regions. While Western cultures are built on rules and transparency, most of the Asian cultures are relationship based. Based on different viewpoints, the Asian culture causes concerns especially in areas of performance management, rights of minority shareholders, governance, fraud and corruption.

This presentation will look into the following areas:

  • The adoption of Western business model/governance in Asia
  • The strength and weakness of Asian culture in promoting good governance
  • How can trusted people (family, government officials, political party secretaries) play a positive role in company boardrooms?
  • The value of trusted relations in Asian businesses

Aubrey Joachim, President of CIMA, is a management coach, mentor and management training provider. He has been a prolific presenter and conference speaker for over 14 years and has authored many articles on current management issues in professional journals, financial magazines and on the CIMA website.
