Organisations face many challenges, from difficult economic conditions and fierce competition to hostile takeover bids and major reorganisations. So how should leaders react? Stick to their strategy regardless or adapt accordingly? Balancing the tension between goal focus and adaptability is essential for leaders to enable high performance and organisational health.
Being a resilient leader is not just about personal survival but about developing an environment around you that flourishes and thrives. So what can leaders do to create this environment? And how can they become mentally tough enough to cope under the pressure?
In this session, Lane4 Managing Director, Adrian Moorhouse, will present Lane4’s current research into resilience and draw upon case study examples to explore how leaders are creating high performance environments in these difficult times.
The session will cover:
• Defining Organisational Resilience – and specifically the leaders role in it
• Creating a Resilient Organisation – how leaders can balance the tension between striving for their goals and adapting to their environment
• Personal Resilience – developing strategies for individual leaders to cope under the pressure
Adrian Moorhouse is Managing Director at Lane4 and was a founder member in 1995. Adrian won an Olympic gold medal in swimming for Team GB at the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988 and was world number one in his event for six consecutive years. His work in the field of international sport is still ongoing as a swimming commentator for the BBC. In 2007 and 2009, Adrian was voted 'Best Leader' in The Sunday Times '100 Best Small Companies to Work For' list.
