In his 2009 book ‘China and the Credit Crisis’, Giles Chance showed how China emerged into the global economy. Today, nearly three years on, Giles will focus on recent events to update his analysis of China’s development and the future evolution of the new world order.  

Giles became involved in Chinese business in 1989 when he established, with his wife, an advisory business with offices in Beijing, Shanghai and London. In 2003 he co-founded Evolution Securities China, a boutique investment bank which pioneered capital-raising by Chinese companies in the London market. He has taught at the business school at Peking University since 1999, and writes a column for the Chinese newspaper ‘Economic Observer’ which is published weekly in Beijing. 

UKTI mission to the West Pearl River Delta

UK Trade & Investment is organising a British trade mission to the West Pearl River Delta – to the cities of Zhuhai, Zhongshan, and Jiangmen – on 28-30 March. The mission will help British companies explore the business opportunities in these cities, through business-focused events meeting key decision-makers, government officials, and local enterprises. The mission will be led by the British Consul-General in Guangzhou, Mr Alastair Morgan.
