"EU & Hong Kong Views on the China 12th 5-Year Plan"

In his 2009 book ‘China and the Credit Crisis’, Giles Chance showed how China emerged into the global economy. Today, nearly three years on, Giles will focus on recent events to update his analysis of China’s development and the future evolution of the new world order.  

Giles became involved in Chinese business in 1989 when he established, with his wife, an advisory business with offices in Beijing, Shanghai and London. In 2003 he co-founded Evolution Securities China, a boutique investment bank which pioneered capital-raising by Chinese companies in the London market. He has taught at the business school at Peking University since 1999, and writes a column for the Chinese newspaper ‘Economic Observer’ which is published weekly in Beijing. 

UK Trade & Investment is organising a British trade mission to the West Pearl River Delta – to the cities of Zhuhai, Zhongshan, and Jiangmen – on 28-30 March. The mission will help British companies explore the business opportunities in these cities, through business-focused events meeting key decision-makers, government officials, and local enterprises. The mission will be led by the British Consul-General in Guangzhou, Mr Alastair Morgan.

HM Ambassador, Sebastian Wood, warmly welcomes British businesses to join a business mission to Dalian and Shenyang.  The mission will focus primarily on advanced engineering, transportation, and the financial services sector.  Organised by UK Trade & Investment and the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC), the mission will visit Dalian 2nd – 3rd March, and Shenyang on 4th March 2011.

 

China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangzhou Committee (CCPIT Guangzhou) presents the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) 2011 Asia-Pacific Service Industries Conference, hosted by CCPIT and Guangzhou Municipal Government and organised by CCPIT Guangzhou, will be held on February 14th 2011 at Shangri-La Hotel in Guangzhou. This is the first activity for the 5-day event of the first ABAC meeting in 2011.

Following the success of earlier missions to regional cities, UK Trade & Investment, of the British Consulate-General Guangzhou, is organising a British business delegation to Changsha (Hunan) and Nanchang (Jiangxi) in January 2011.  Places are available for up to 20 representatives of British companies and business organisations.
